Last nights project...

This is an image I found in Reminisce Magazine a long time ago. I used her in a book and the image was a little grainy but guess what? When you paint her you can make it clearer . I will be announcing the dates of this class this week. One date is Oct. 4Th on Sat. from 3 to 7pm. I will also have a date in Sept. I hope you come and enjoy this easy way to paint.

This week flew by... and the winner has been drawn!

CeCe is the winner of this months little drawing of little things. I've been having a wonderful visit with my brothers daughter and her son. She has posted a few pictures of the event on her blog (Happy Fun Life). Her last visit we decided to keep in touch by e-mail more and low and behold the blog scene has made that so much more interesting than the e-mailing would have been. We didn't plan to blog but it happened anyway. Now I can get back to my postings and art. Taking a bit of time for myself was refreshing. CeCe I'll get this package to you through Mystic Paper! Congrats!

Friday Give Away...

For this give away all you need to do is leave a comment stating 3 unknown facts about yourself. I have seen this as a tag but I think it would be great for my give away. This give away package will consist of 50 pieces of small items and trims. Each trim will be at least 1 ft. and there will be a few stamps but mostly odds and ends. Great for embellishing. Some old some new. I will pick a winner after wed. Good luck.

I've decided to do the class! JOIN IN THE FUN! Taught at Mystic Paper, cost just $48.

Do an 8x10 painting overlay. I will have images to choose from, like this girl but I would like to see people bring in their own photo copies to do. Children, people or pets. More on this later. I will also give a $5.00 credit for those who have taken my class before or those who sign up first. Lets say the first 3 peeps to sign up. I will pick a date in September. Have a good Wednesday!

Book with some images added.

See the treatments are working!
Now I will look for more pics of myself to throw in and this will be the fastest book I've done. If they are ever totally done. I tend to add as I find.

A Book is Born...

My girlfriend Debbie has been encouraging me to do a few books with her. She is doing a large high school one. I found this orange box and decided to make one to fit in it with the bright colors of 1968 - 1972 colors to match.

This whole book is sewn together, making it very sturdy. Lots of pockets. I still have to put in images and words (the fun part) but here is the structure. The whole book measures 3 1/2 in. by 5 inches.
I had a lot of vintage materials to work with.

Last page is the ecology page.
Some of the pages are pretty busy but adding images and photos will calm it down. An afternoon of sewing was fun. And I even cleaned up the sewing room after as I am having company next week. Fun, thanks for looking in!

Surprise Stamp Bag...

I found a dealer in the Antique Plaza that had some packages of stamps for $2.00. I couldn't see in them too well but picked one up. There were at least 35-45 stamps and these were among them.

I was very surprised at the quality and some were not even used.

This one was graphically nice. Too bad it's a bug?

He seems a little stern. Maybe I could make a grumpy men book! Thought I would share my big buy, big deal, stamp find! Next week will be the Big Friday give away.

Girl in Sepia...

This was a bit easier with only few colors in the girl image. I think it captures the vintage look with modern colors behind. Her face was only about one inch of work space so it seemed tight compared to the others. I am hoping to get enough courage to sell some in my booth at the Antique Plaza. Come in and see us lots of ephemera to choose from for art!

This Weeks Overlay Acrylic...

I'm going to call this one "The Orchid", she has paper behind that I painted in and out of with the colors I worked with in dress and face. I have been asked to teach this at Mystic Paper and am giving it serious thought. What do you kids think?

Fountain of Youth Found in Caymans by Sister Patty...

Here is my sister after drinking and swimming in "Fountain of Youth." That's my cousin in background and my brother in boat with another cousin. I am taking the picture as was my job since I was 8 years old. Some how I remember getting the boat in and thinking you would be able to see them better. Composition working in my brain even then. This was taken from a little box Kodak. A few years later I got my own "Instamatic" for Christmas. Patty regressed too far back, but as with all tonics you never know! This is actually Burt Lake Michigan 1960's.

Ruby gets a present...

My girlfriend Susan brought Ruby a present. The visit was for me the present an extra. She looks pretty happy with her new bear "Vinnie".

Happy Birthday Ruby!

Here she was as a puppy. Barely 2 pounds of cuteness. Look at her baby belly!
This is her a few years back on Halloween.
So now she is a whole 7 years old today. I usually forget what day but this year I didn't. I have been watching the Greatest American Dog on CBS. All my other dogs could do all kinds of tricks but I haven't worked with Ruby much. We are now working on a few tricks. Her problem is she is too eager! Well thanks for sharing Ruby's day with me.

Summer=wagons=fun!

These are a little grainy, but boy are these kids happy with their wagons? I can just see the mother that is taking this picture pulling him after. Or maybe he just takes off down the street in his Steer Master.
I don't think you could get anymore into this wagon. Six kids and a cat. Ah, the simple life! Where is the watermelon? These aren't my family, but had to adopt for a quarter a piece. Can't tell if the two belong together but could. Maybe years later the wagon is still going strong.

Pick Two...

OK, I need some feedback. Which two do you think would be good for me to paint? I really like them all but want to know what you guys like. Unfortunately the man, who is a doll, would be cut out of piece A. A. Woman with bow.
B. White puppy. (I have my whites down).

C. Lady in goldish dress.

D. Black and white dog. Make up your mind before reading others comments and let me know. Subject picking is most fun!
