I Got A Guy...

Maybe he's not as mysterious as Mr. Darcy on Jack and Cat Curio, but he is dark and handsome. I found this signed photo along time ago. His name is Richard Barthelmess. He was a silent screen star. He reminds me of some actor now? But who? Don't forget to leave a comment on the previous post for Wed.s drawing.

Sweet Book Cover...

My friend Suzanne let me take this home from work to scan for future art work. It is just precious. She is selling it in her booth if anyone is interested.

One more background started...

I had to add one more to the pile of backgrounds to be done. I love how the writing stamp shows the green just slightly through. On this one I painted shading around figure before gluing down. (Patty tip). I may loose the black detail of the skirt, but loved her pose. I have started painting on my child(my mom)Picture and the coral one with lady that needed a skirt. See previous post. These look nice now and am afraid to paint over but, I HAVE CONFIDENCE!

And the winner is...

I knew this old bowl would come in handy one day! All 8 of you commenter's went in it and we have a winner.
How sweet is it? I'm sending you a muse card along with prize package for inspiring me. All of you deserve winning. I will have drawings once in a while on Fridays and pick winners on Monday morning. I really had fun doing this.

Here's this drawings prize.

This is one of the things I did this weekend. I got a unit from my store. Only $18. It is on a lazy susan type turner. Best part, 2 sided. I have all my paints on the other side. No more digging for that color in a drawer. A nice addition to my art room.

Also got together with sis for painting. You can see her done pieces on Arcadia living. These are still the before shots on mine but. I wanted to show my final selections. My canvases are a little larger than hers, and I am extremely slow. Too much thinking and not enough just do it. So speedy Patty got hers done and I was blown away! Hopefully mine will turn out half as good.

Happy Birthday Dad!

This is a picture that I just recently got for my birthday from my Aunt Sharon. She is my dad's sister in Michigan, where this was. My dad was a paper boy for a couple of years. I think this may be his delivery bike and his dog Nipper. Dogs love my dad and he loves all animals. I was so thankful to get this as a present. Have a great birthday Dad I'll see you in about a week.

Free give away Friday! Enter drawing by leaving a comment!

I've been watching Kim's blog Sweet Sage Vintage with her Flicker challenge of colors. I enjoyed her greens. And I always love seeing her pinks. When I heard cream or beige colors, can't remember which, I thought that would be hard to do. I am not a Flicker member yet but most likely will be, I still am going to take some pictures. This is #1.
I know they are all the same but I want to hear feedback of which number you like best. I should say pose. #2.

Hey beige is great. #3. Every body out there leave me # they prefer and I will pick out of a hat one of you for a free gift sent to you from me. Free give away-Just leave a comment. I'll mail out a free ephemera package as prize.

More backgrounds...

This is the bright green background being covered with an orange pink mix of paint. I added a little glaze so it wouldn't dry so fast.
Close up of dot detail showing a little green. The other side I am leaving more of the green for interest.

This board had texture before painting so I have dry brushed the green with pink to show it off. The figure will go on one of these but not sure witch one. I will paint in her skirt later. I am nervous about the faces and skin. Yikes they may look like monsters!

Orange board with some stamps I am using.

I'm into this coral color. This shows the textures you can do with only the end of your brush. Simple lines look better after the painting is done with image. Only some of the lines will show.

Here are some of the images I may use. Note to self; canvases just slightly larger than your scanned picture works best. More to come.

Added of work in progress...

I added this to earlier post as it shows background a little better. Directions follow in earlier post. Can't wait to paint over the image with acrylics. I'll either love it or hate it.

Paint Project with Patty...

Yes we are trying a project found in Somerset Gallery. We are doing the first part at home. I took 4 different boards and canvases and gessoed them-2 layers then painted with bright bold colors for back grounds. The finished pieces will be a lot less colorful but the first coat will bleed through and show after the second layer.
Working with the purple one first I then cover with off white and while still wet stamped dots over all and wrote- etched on the side. After that dried I covered left side with pink over some stamping and dry brushed the pink color over the rest. Some purple is coming through and I uses gray for left side stamping so it would still show some.

Next I cut out enlarged black and white photo. And then added an image of flower with gel medium to glue on canvas. Work out bubbles and apply gel medium over images to set color ink. Now the fun begins. This will be painted with acrylic paints. This part Patty and I will be doing together. You can see where I am going. To be continued.

Happy Father's Day Dad...

Here are some pictures that remind me of my dad. This is probably one of your fore fathers looking out across his land over there in Europe.
I think this is the greatest picture for the front of a fathers day card.

Could be my dad, but isn't. I dig those crazy socks. Do you think you could make this thing fly?

Reminds me of the Dali exhibition we saw in London. It really impressed me more than I thought it would. Would like to see another.

Here is the real dad with a couple of moochers, trying to con a guy out of his toast.

Here are mom and dad with Barkley several years back.

Young graduate.

An 80's shot. I like the cat prop. My dad likes all animals, except maybe goldfish eating blue herons. Well Happy Fathers Day to all my male relatives.

Aunt Jerrine...

Did you ever try taking a picture through glass? I kept showing up in the reflection! This is how I solved the problem with cropping. I received this for my 50Th birthday from my Mom. This is her aunt. So I guess my great aunt. The portrait is beautiful and matches my colors in my house. She is hanging in my living room. This is from the 1890s.

Meet the roommates/trouble makers...

You have met Ruby of course. I tried to get her to sit on this little rocker. But she does not like to sit her little butt on hard things like tile or cement and I guess wood. She wouldn't make it very far on America's greatest dog, would she?
And you have met Charlie, my russian blue manx. She actually looks pink here but she is the softest cat you will ever touch. She was born without a tail and she weighs only 6 lbs. Just like holding a little teddy bear.

Laddy was a stray that the kids in the neighborhood found. They would come by and check on the cat every few years. He got his name because we thought he was irish with those bright green eyes.

This shows his real girth. He weighs 20 lbs. Three times what Ruby does. But he is a big cry baby.

Now here is my favorite photo muse. Although he looks grumpy in most pictures. Elliot is a snow shoe. Half american shorthair and half siamese. They created the breed to get docile behavior and a siamese look. Elliot is a siamese temperment to the extreme. A one person cat . Moody and will bite others if he doesn't want to be petted. Just lightly but he can break skin so beware. He's a marsh mellow in my arms.

Looks pretty mean here.

Soft and glowing here. Well that is the indoor crew. My oldest and most social lives in the garage, with his yard as his play ground. Pappy will get his own posting later.

Brand New Addiction!!!

This collage book is sooo so much fun. Some pages can be less cluttered and some can have lots of stuff crammed in. I have scanned these pages but when I have more time I will photo them with 2 sides together.
This is my index page of sorts. Planning to add more words as I find them. The fun is you can add later.
This is my favorite so far. In the tin it says [ lost sister ]. I love adding the men and women that I find interesting. Fun! Well I got to go to work now, more later.

Cover of Glue Book Started...

Yes I was inspired by Tanya of Road Trip w/Ruby. I also found out they are called glue books or inspiration books. I have also cut up some fashion mags to go in with the art. The collage work is absolutely fun. I'm a little slow at it but soon will be slapping those pictures together. Thanks for the "inspiration".

Cleaning Closet Break:

Okay I ran across these cleaning my closet. It is so fun looking at the past. Being my birthday yesterday I decided to show some of me nobody has seen for a while. This is the 70's where did those nice full lips go?
Mid 1980's. I used to get pretty tan. Hence my wrinkles now!

Late 80's. Dig those glasses. I cut out my boobs as the bathing suit made them look sad. Not the best shot of me but probubly the thinnest.

Since you have had a look at my husband #1 in previous post, I have to give husband #2 his day. What is that sweet girl doing with that tatooed long hair young guy? Both of my husbands were rock guitar players. And I put up with each of them for 15 years each. Lot of good times but I guess thats my limit. I don't have anouther 15 to give so I'm taking the rest for myself. I like it.
