Thoughts on food...

Remember doing any canning? My grandmother did it and my mom had a big garden so she did it. I remember stewed tomatoes, pickled green beans with a bite, peaches and jams. Raspberries and frozen corn cut off the cob. That stuff really tasted good. These pictures conger up a bright picture. I helped as a kid but never did my own except I have always cooked in volume and froze. Let's hear some little memories from you guys out there. Did you get to witness this almost unheard of event in the city of Phoenix?

I had to add this because it is my dad's favorite dessert. It's a good thing they canned pineapple.

I canned all the time before we moved to Arizona. We didn't have room for a large garden here. I canned so many green beans that we had them for most meals and never had to buy a can. I also loved finding chicken or beef at a great sale and canning it for last minute meals. I'd can almost anything I could get my hands on.

I tried canning back in the late

I canned a lot in the 1970's. A neighbor had a big garden and I got to share in the peaches and apricots. Also made a lot of strawberry jam.

I am from a long line of canners. When we moved to Phoenix, we still canned, but froze stuff too (a new thing).

I have helped can a lot of veges and fruit over the years. My mom still cans even though there are just 2 of them now....
